Florida Community Loan Fund mourns the passing of retired Chief Executive Officer Ignacio Esteban
It is with profound sadness that Florida Community Loan Fund shares the passing of Ignacio Esteban, our longtime Chief Executive Officer, colleague, mentor, and friend. He passed away on August 29, 2026.
For three decades, Ignacio devoted his leadership, vision, and commitment to Florida Community Loan Fund. Under his guidance, FCLF grew into a leading community development financial institution serving communities across Florida.
Throughout his tenure, Ignacio helped shape FCLF into an organization recognized for expanding access to capital and financing projects that create opportunities and strengthen communities. His leadership supported the development and preservation of affordable housing, schools, health centers, community facilities, small businesses, and other essential projects throughout the state.
Ignacio also played an important role in advancing the broader field of community development finance. During his career, he built enduring relationships with financial institutions, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, investors, borrowers, and community leaders, helping strengthen both FCLF and the networks of partnership essential to its mission.
Upon his retirement on July 31, 2026, FCLF Chief Financial Officer Tammy Thomas was appointed to serve as Interim CEO.
Ignacio leaves an extraordinary professional legacy. The organization he helped build, the partnerships he cultivated, and the communities strengthened through FCLF’s work reflect the depth and reach of his contribution. His leadership and impact will continue to shape Florida Community Loan Fund for years to come.
